Basic Direction
The architecture plan was established focusing on safety, promptness, direction and convenience of the internal space aiming to create a space to overcome a sense of closure of the underground and selected finishing materials, lightings and graphics considering a modern feel so that the passengers could feel friendliness and comfortable sensation.
Installation of Display and Rest Facilities
The display and rest facilities were installed so that people recognize subway station as a meeting plaza instead of a simple place to use a subway train. An entrance and meeting plaza were installed in the rear side of Munhwajeondang station buying private land and concurrently opened ceiling of the first basement to receive natural light in order to save energy and improve the close feeling underground environment. A meeting plaza, rest facility and a display space which may hold various exhibitions in the 1st and 2nd basement in Geumnamro 4 Ga station. Especially, in the 1st basement, the waiting room was connected with underground commercial shopping center so that the visitors could easily use the subway.
For Nongseong station and Airport station, the space of the path between the waiting room and Ssunkeun plaza was utilized for art display in the external entrance. Besides them, the rest and meeting spaces equipped with chairs are prepared in all stations so that citizens could use them freely.
Installation of Art Decorations
Art decorations are installed in 8 stations of Line 1 in a purpose to provide spectacles to the users expressing the areal characteristics by the art as a region of the art. The art works by station are as follows:
